Thighs or outer thighs liposuction

description

Liposuction can radically and definitively remove localized areas of protruding fat.
In general, these localized areas of protruding fat do not go away with diet and exercise.

Liposuction can be applied to numerous body areas: outer thighs, hips, abdomen, inner thighs, knees, calves, ankles, arms and pubis.

Technical improvements have permitted to extend its action to the face and the neck (double chin, face oval).

Before the procedure

A preoperative check-up is made following your surgeon’s recommendations.

An anaesthesiologist will see you in consultation at the latest 48 hours before the operation.

No aspirin-based medication should be taken during the 10 days preceding the operation.

According to the type of anaesthesia chosen, you may be asked not eat or drink for 6 hours before surgery.

The admission is made the morning of the operation. You can return home in the evening or the day after the operation.

You will need between 2 and 7 days of rest after returning home.

The operation is not paid for by health insurance.

The procedure

Every surgeon has his or her own personal technique, which he or she adapts to every new case, in order to obtain the best possible results.

However, there are common principles:

Skin incisions are small (3 to 4 millimetres) and discrete, usually hidden in a natural fold.

Fat cells are aspirated through smooth cannulas avoiding nerves and blood vessels for deep and superficial fat layers.

The amount of fat removed is adjusted to the quality of the overlying skin, which represents a fundamental factor for the quality of the final result.

A panty or an elastic garment is placed immediately after the operation.

The duration of the procedure depends on the amount of fat removed and on the number of body areas to treat. It can vary from 20 minutes to 3 hours (average time is 1 to 2 hours).

After the procedure

A pressure garment (lipopanthy) is prescribed. It should be worn day and night for 4 to 6 weeks after the operation.
It is possible to have showers as soon as the day after the operation, but baths are contraindicated during 3 weeks.
Non practice of any sporting activity during a period of 3 to 6 weeks.

The necessary time needed to recover from this procedure is proportional to the amount of excess fat removed.

After a liposuction, you will observe swelling and bruising in the treated areas.
Pain can vary from one patient to another, but it is usually mild, due to the use of very thin cannulas.

Fatigue is common in the first few post-operative days, especially after large liposuctions.
You can go back to your usual activities 3 to 7 days after surgery, again depending on the extent of your liposuction and your type of professional activity.

Bruising usually disappears 10 to 20 days after the operation.

Treated areas must not be exposed to sunlight or ultraviolet radiation at least 3 months after the operation.

There is no dramatic improvement of body contour in the first 2 to 3 weeks, because of the tissue swelling (oedema) in the operated areas. It is only after 6 months that the final result will appear.

Peut-on associer d’autres interventions ?
